I am joining this university (educational institute sounds better) wherein they provide the oppurtunity to opt from two different universities of America, Detroit city for a BBA program. The universities are: Madonna University and American City University. Well, Madonna University provides an Honors Degree as well in addition to the BBA Degree with 45 subjects and American City University provides A BBA degree only. The fees now: Madonna University is $ 400 per month and American City.... is $300 / month. Which should I go for? The one with Honous degree or just a normal degree? Please help me people. And explain to me what this Honours degree means. Thankyou all Yahoo! users. Love you take care

I think you are making a BIG mistake.

In the United States all legitimate colleges are accredited by the "Regional" associations. If you look at the websites of all the well-known universities and colleges in the US they tell you that the school is accredited by the Southern Regional, Northeastern Regional, etc. This is MINIMUM standard that you can have for a school.

If a school is not accredited, then its degrees will not be accepted by other schools. You cannot use a "degree" from a non-accredited school to get a job, apply for graduate school, etc.

I am very familiar with American colleges but I had never heard of either of these schools before. I looked at their websites and could not find any explanation of their accreditations. This is a VERY bad sign.

There are over 4000 accredited universities and colleges in the USA. You can connect to nearly all of them online. Do NOT send any money or spend any time in any school which is not Regionally accredited.

You CAN get admitted to an American university that is respected and accredited. To find lists of respectable schools, check the US New rankings. Any school in those rankings is accredited. But you should look most closely at the schools in the top and second tier ranks. However, many of the schools even in the third rank will give you an opportunity for a good educations. Another place to look at schools is the website princetonreview.com They have a program 'college search' which will help you pick out a good school that matches your interests.

Don't get ripped off! Be careful.

With an honors degree you will have to an honors dissertation/thesis project during your last year - primarily a research project. The question is not just the cost of the school - but what other things do they offer - a good career center, writing and math labs, internships - also are you looking to going to grad school or at an academic career then the honors program may give you an edge- if you are looking for a good job then both will help but the non-honors program will be less stressful and more than likely a better return on investment as most employers do not care if what your status of degree is - they are looking for experience and knowledge with the degree more often a tick on job description - that is where internship, business incubators and work/study give you an edge

I can't tell you which one to chose but I can say that I have heard of Madonna University and it's a reputable school. I lived in the Detroit area for 28 years and I know several people that have attended Madonna. The other school, American City University, I have not heard of. It may be a new school so I would agree with the other poster and tell you to check out accrediations of any school before attending it.
