You may have a point, yet it's not all bad news.
In Test bowling only IK Pathan had a good strike rate compared to other Internationals, at 55.8, placing him 46th of all time.
However economy is also crucial with Nadkarini, Mankad and Bedi rating top.
Currently Singh, Agarkar and Kahn rates in the top 25 top world bowlers.
But you have a point about not having the quality that is possible in a cricket mad country with a billion people. However, PLEASE give young Sreesanth a chance. The boy has the best attitude I've seen in any bowler for a long time and his future is bright. It's early days yet. He is currently rated 49th but is sure to improve over time.
I think much can be learned from the way in which Bangladesh has developed their game in a very short period of time, mainly through the youth system.
As for the spinners, Murraly has no match. There you have the BEST without doubt!

Previously the question used to be asked why India is not producing any fast bowlers. Now with half a dozen fast bowlers around waiting for their turn to be picked up in the team, the question being asked now is why India does not produce world class fast bowlers. Remember our fast bowlers perform creditably well when they are playing in foreign soil than when they are performing in India because conditions in their back yard is not conducive to fast bowling. This is the simple reason. The present lot of fast bowlers is good enough to perform against quality oppositions.

"Munaf Patel, VRV Singh, Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar ... ain't these world-class?"
Not even close. I am from NZ, those guys make James Franklin look world class, and Franklin isn't world class.
World Class is Mcgrath, its Malcom Marshall, its WI, its Fred Truman, Richard Hadlee, Shane Bond.
Ain't none of those guys a star, or close to it. How many Indian pace bowlers can hold down a place in the team for 3straight years?
Why? history, pitch conditions, and Indian cricket. There is no glory being a bowler in India, and the only chance you have is to be a spinner. Its all about batting.

Very simple answers are there for the question.
1) How many indian sprinters are recognised at least in the asian level out of one billion people. (not much)
That means not enough athletes are there in INDIA. Every good fast bowler is bit of a good athlete. U r lacking cricketing athletes.
2) Not much of a central controlled cricketing system in the junior level. Maybe loosing the potential talent at the grass root level of cricket.
3) Nutrition level should be at least average when the players are growing. Families able to feed the growing kids with adequate nutriouses food to generate future fast bowlers.
4) No good coaching system at the junior levels to avoid injuries to fast bowlers and technical support to increas the speed.
I think above mentioned are few of many reason.

This is a big why. And why for Indian team only. Tell me how many countries in the world have world class fast bowlers. How mmany spinners in the world have taken all ten wickets in a single test match. Why dont you ask this question to the rest of the world?

the main reason is the pitches of India.if the pitches of India is made in such away that it support fast bowlers, then there is no problem to find a fast bowler from a large nation like India which have population over 100 crore

I would like to say....Bowling fast is no use...cause we need here is technique to take and bag wickets which our Indian bowlers are doing well...especially Spinners of Indian and I can sure say...Everyone who is batting against our Indian Spinners find it diffult to bat against them cause we have specialist Spinner quality and other countries didnt have...So likewise...Other Countries have some Fast Bowlers and lack at Spinner ...In India we have quality spinner and medium pacers and In swingers and Out Swingers and we also have some fast bowlers like Zaheer Khan, Agit Agarkar, Sreesanth, RP Singh, Munaf Patel...So India is a balanced Team and In future we can see some World Class Fast Bowlers cause India is changing and we can see some youngsters coming in.
So lets just wait and see....

I don't know...maybe it is because the pitches in India are more suitable for spinners. The BCCI really should stop playing politics and find a good fast bowler.

It is a very costly affair. For doing fast bowling good diet is required. Which un affordable for a middle and lower class family. Players of rich family prefere to become a batsman, where less exercion is there for fielding etc. By making one or centuaries a bats becomes an international player. e.g. Dhoni. By taking 5 to 10 wickets the boweler does not come in notice like Shushank, & one that from South India.
