No, you are not in denial, you seem to have everything under control.

I don't think you are in denial, you seem to understand that you are an alcholic and that it is causing problems in your life. Go to AA and stay there if you want to quit. You must learn new ways to deal with problems rather than drinking. You are probably depressed because alcohol is a drug and a depressant, also the problems caused by alcohol can be depressing as well. In the rooms of AA is where they will teach you how to stay sober. It is totally worth getting sober. I know- drinking cost me 40 jobs in 10 years, led to be homeless, and eventually led me to become unemployable. I entered into rehab, then went to a halfway house then supportive living. I went to college, and now have an associate's degree and am working on my Bachelor's. I have a family and a house, life is way better than it used to be. You can check with the hospital, look in the phone book under alcholics anonymous in the yellow pages and white pages, there you can find numbers and they will tell you where the meetings are.

Dude, you're in denial, although cracks in your facade are starting to appear.

If you live in Virginia, you know that there is a mandatory jail sentence for your second DUI, so prepare yourself mentally. It's probably like that in other states, as well. It's not nice, but sometime it takes incarceration to become clean.

Your body literally needs ETOH (alcohol) to function at this point in your addiction. When it is not present, you deteriorate.

You have to stop drinking, go to AA and get a sponsor. The other option is to die, either quickly or slowly.

If you're drinking is so out-of-hand that your drinking before you go to work, I'd meet with my human resource department and request employee assistance for counseling. The laws of confidentiality protect even more so, than if you were getting more mundane medical treatment.

The biggest leap of faith? The biggest surprise? Just let your liver recover. Find out the motivations behind your addiction. Then be pleasantly surprised that life goes on just as it always has been.

Where's the denial? You know you're a drunk. If you want to change, you can do some things: 1) Go to AA and get a sponsor. They'll help you stop. 2) Go to the doctor and get a prescription for meds to stop drinking. 3) Go to rehab if you can afford it. The doctor might also give you meds for depression. You can stop, but it's going to be really hard, especially at first. However, your life will be a lot better if you do stop.

Hi, well I think you know you have a problem and thats the first step to getting it sorted. It sounds to me like you have low self esteem or depression and drink will only make that worse.

There are websites where you can speak out about your depression and get help, even anonymously. It is important to speak about your problems.

If a person really doesn't like what they are doing ...what needs to happen? People drink because they lack spiritual health. If I were in your position I'd pray every day for strength and guidance instead of drinking. Replace - replace - replace....

Some ideas:

Work on spiritual health and surround yourself with healthy people. Pray for strength and guidance daily.

Find a hobby or activity...what have you always wanted to do but neglected to? If none you haven't thought about it and should start we all have gifts. At the same time there will be people there with the same interests if your hobby requires going out of your home.

Try getting into the habit of opening blinds/curtains every morning as soon as you wake up and eat breakfast to help keep up strength. Healthy people eat three squares that don't consist of junk food all the time.

Go for a walk every evening or morning for your set amount of time and chosen place such as a park, garden, around the block ...your environment and your choice.

Make it a habit to get one neglected thing done in the house/yard ...setting your own rule with a clause that you are going to do what you had planned regardless of temptation to get worked up instead. Learn to tell yourself no.

Work on relationships...try and keep an eye on yourself as to how you are relating to people. I use to live with a drinker who has been cured of his addiction to beer for many years - he loved to argue, manipulate(be dishonest) with others, and control. Start thinking about how others feel as you work on this also.

You may be met with resistance if you've chosen to do this for some time especially by those who have no spiritual connection. This is tough and feels demeaning but sort it out....it's their problem not yours. My hubby's brother (a drinker) told my husband he didn't like him anymore because he quit drinking - that was mean spirited. I reminded my husband that his obviously was jealous of his strength and also pointed out his selfishness which is the worst trait a person w/addiction finds he/she has to deal with - it is always hard on those closest to you also. Consider self-observation.

Learn to problem-solve instead of shifting into anxiety mode. It gets things accomplished : )
Is not allowing yourself to become riled up a waste of time? Have you gotten to that point yet?

Make a list of local places and events you would like to attend alone or invite a relative/friend and don't do it all in one day. Hang it on the frig and and add as you live. Relationships take work and this is positive intiative.

Are you married? Date your spouse once a week. Even if it's down to the local ice cream parlor, a play, a musical performance - many are outdoors during the summer, swimming, bowling, a picnic and if you are a guy I don't care KFC or a local deli has the contents of a picnic basket. Consider what he/she likes to do also.

Make it a habit to something nice for someone else- whether it be mailing out a birthday/anniversary card, helping a disabled neighbor, donating a bit of time to an elderly person, or dropping some flowers to a local nursing home for a person that has no family.

Nope, you've got it nailed. AA, while not for everybody, is a good start for an intervention. Booze is not worth ruining your life over. Get help.
