It depends on the Celeron. There are THREE GENERATIONS of Celerons... The P2 Celeron, the P3 Celeron, and P4 Celeron

The first Celeron are based on the Pentium II, and went up to 400 MHz. I know, I have one of those. Later Celerons are based on Pentium III and Pentium IV respectively.

If you have a Celeron 333, it'd be a Pentium II generation Celeron.

Any Celeron would be inferior to that generation of CPU that it is companion to. P2-gen Celeron would be worse than a regular P2, and so on. However, comparison across generations would not be a fair fight. For example, it would not be fair to compare a P4-gen Celeron to a Pentium III, muchless a Pentium II. (P4-gen Celeron would be much faster)

Up to about 200 MHtz a celeron IS a pentium 2, just with less internal cache. Over about 333 MHT a Celeron is equivalent to a Pentium 3.

The best way to tell is to download some "Benchmark" software. You run the program on your computer and it will give the speed of computation as a numerical value, and also what level of processor it would be equal to.

Search the net for Benchmark diagnostics. Some you will download and run, some will run right over the net.

I have a pc with the first one. I bought a Gateway pc with an AMD 64 dual core processor. I will never go back to the one with the Intel Celeron. I looked up this processor. At one time it was Intell's slowest least memory processor made. I think the Pentium 2 has to be more than faster.

Depends on the speeds, but generally P2's are better than Celeron's. Generally, fast calculators are better than celeron's..

Good luck!

I'd say celeron is better...Its faster and more advanced and also newer...Celerons are based on the NetBurst architecture....where as the architecture of the pentium II is quiet outdated...
