Intelligent Design has more science backing it than the archaic Darwinism. And it's not as religious in nature as Darwinism either.
Schools are stopping the debate because they know Darwinism doesn't explain the complex mechanisms in microbiology. As we become more educated, we find that Darwin was wrong in almost all cases. But just because we can't explain where we came from doesn't mean we have to believe in a disproven theory like Darwinism. It's kind of silly to think we were duped into believing those fake monkey to man drawings and others like them. Hopefully others will educate themselves and dismiss Darwinism too.
Iowa State just refused tenure on a professor who believes in Intelligent Design. Typical socialism in action in our schools.
Darwinism is the new state religion along with Man Made Global Warming. Since they don't want debate on the subject they want us to be come less intelligent in our colleges. It's sad, but it's like we're going into another Dark Ages. It's Stalin-ism: the stifling of data that conflicts with the state religions.
As we become more educated and science unlocks the mysteries of the universe, Darwinism will eventually go away along with the Flat Earth Theory and Blood Letting. But as long as politics keeps fake theories alive it will be quite a battle for the truth.

Yeah, that's cool with me. We can't prove whether evolution was guided or not, we just know that it doesn't have to be. It works with or without a higher power, so if people believe in gods I think that's fine if they're accepting scientific evidence too. Personally I don't believe evolution was guided, but you obviously have at least a basic knowledge of what's going on, so fair play to you. The middle ground isn't always sitting on the fence. Sometimes it's okay. Although yeah, evolution isn't random chance or accidents. Mind you, you can read up on it and still believe what you believe now, I have no issues with it.

I guess the best way to answer this is..how much do you really know? I have no idea what's out there. But to our perfect bodies, witnessing the birth/death of a human or animal, the feeling of loving another individual...life is so much more complex that we can fathom. Maybe we aren't meant to know where God came from yet, or what exactly else exists besides us. I can tell you this..I wouldn't dare discount it.
Just because we can't grasp an idea doesn't make it any less true.

Faith is a virtue, and by its nature cannot be coerced, or it ceases to be faith. No one can force you to believe that God exists, and if someone attempted to do so, the result would not be faith. Further, if God is truly God, whether or not you believe in his existence adds nothing or takes away nothing from his essential nature. God has no need of your faith to be who God is, and if God exists, your lack of faith has no impact whatsoever on who he is. So, in this regard the pressure is off. As far as why God, if God exists, would care about us, the illumination of this answer is proposed by the various religious traditions. Christianity conceives of God being love in his essential nature, and therefore God acts in accord with his nature in caring for what he has created. Not everyone believes this, but many find comfort in such a revelation in a world as brutal and indifferent as our own. The need for comfort is not the best reason for faith, but it is a reason. That God exists in an attitude of care for the universe is for Christians a revelation, not an empirical proof, and therefore you have to weigh the merits of such a revelation by rational inference. Again, you may accept or reject such claims.
To characterize faith as nonsense betrays a profound lack of understanding or appreciation for what is being signified linguistically and existentially in terms of theological discourse. As a modern, you should be much more open minded. But it is the paradox of modernity to claim an open mind and sense of the value of pluralism in regards to everything but religion-- and this suspicion, born of modernity has given birth to the radicalized and often violent forms of religion that are so intractable and vexing.
As I said previously, you don't have to believe in such things as God or gods or revelations, but many do, and and though you may not accept their reasoning, this does not make all the claims of faith irrational by necessity. Modernity has built up in many people's understanding of faith a kind of straw man that can easily be knocked down. However, that straw man is not the object of faith, something far more mysterious is, and that mystery is not a problem that is can be solved by the narrow catagories of modern rationalism and empiricism.

Wow! you are such a creation!!! Even your kind is created by God for a purpose, or in your own terns "intelligent design". You certainly come from somewhere, if you don't believe in that then you are simply making a fool out of yourself. However, if you are seeking for something that would give you some enlightenment, which obviously is what you need, then I strongly suggest you refer to someone you trust and consult your specific concerns about many things, but I suggest again that you should be specific as to which areas in your life are your concern.
On your concern about how to explain the creation of the universe, you don't need to explain it yourself or for yourself what you need is an expert advise from someone you trust and who knows something about your particular need.
And about "this entity who exist nowhere, but everywhere" He is God!!! He is in you and with you all the time, whether you believe it or not. He sees you and knows how and what you feel and think all the time. And He gave you the Choice to believe Him or Not. He is kind and gentle but punishes the guilty without fear or favor. He judges everything and is always fair to anyone poor or rich, ugly or whatever. He provides everything that you have and for everyone and in fact, He gave His only begotten son Jesus Christ into this world to be nailed on the Cross, for our sins, yours and mine and that of the others. And all that God expects us to do is to believe in Him through Jesus Christ, His Son, Our Lord and Savior.
You asked, would God care about something virtually inexistent? He cares for everything or anything or what have you. But what do you care if He cares or not, if you don't believe in Him as it seems to me you don't really believe in Him.
You find God through other people. You will find Him when you share yourself to others. When you share yourself to others, you find yourself, therefore, the more you share yourself to others, the more you discover about yourself as a creation of God and shares his blessings and bounty here on earth.
If you want to know more about God, the One you call "this entity who exist nowhere, but everywhere" ask someone who believe in Him and you will see. As I have said, He is always with you, but you need to decide to be with Him. He gives you a Choice. To believe or not to believe in Him is your choice to make, and if you choose not to believe in Him, you can still have your life as He have given you but not the kind He wants you to have, a happy life through others - a life of interdependence.

Was it intelligent design to have the Andromeda Galaxy to eventually crash into our own Milky Way Galaxy? It does not impact out lives, but its a reality. Was it Intel. des. to have 15 or hominids before us to become extince...?... what are we, the new and improved model? The only observation i've seen, or at least read about, is our slow road to equiplibrium...

The unforgivable sin is unbelief. To believe in something that is not provable takes faith. Such belief is a conscious act of the will of man. You're going to need faith - the most powerful force in the universe - and the ability to use it, to evolve. Those who don't evolve will spend a long, long time wishing they had.
You have your chance, do it while you can.
"...faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." "...God has dealt to every man the measure of faith."
He's given you everything you need to succeed.

ahh, but I don't understand how someone can look around and see things that work together so perfectly and think "this is all just a coincidence..."
things that are screwed up? that's because God gave us freedom to choose our actions and plot our own course.
and, if you believe the butterfly effect, how can anything be virtually nonexistant? in that case, everything is vital and significant.

you cant really blame people for believing in something so "comforting". people want to feel like they have a "purpose" and the concept of god gives them that "purpose". also people seem to have a problem believing that you might not have a purpose...your purpose might be to live and make babies (like animals). your self value just dropped like crazy! i mean...i dont think there is such a thing as purpose...i think people make up or decide a purpose according to their own lives. so believing that your not just another animal on the planet...that yes there is someone out there that ALWAYS loves you just makes it sound so much more nice then having no real purpose and that YOUR ON YOUR OWN!!

They are all brainwashed.
Or just choosing the easy way out to understanding it all. "Oh it must be God and we are too stupid to understand God".
I personally believe everything in this universe (including time) has the natural tendency to gravitate towards the oblivion. Because that is the most "normal" state for any universe to be - non existent.
