Are you going to catch the bugs to feed them ? Insects are an important part of their diet and a few meal worms now and then won't do.

Make a bird trap, similar to a fish or lobster trap, bait it with birdseed, and catch them from the wild. Any birds you trap that you don't want can be released unharmed.
