I've always been a 36B.

Today I went in for a bridsemaid gown fitting. The girl took my measurements. I was shocked when she took my bust measurement and it was 33". I told her I wear a 36B bra.. and she then said she was going to do a bra fitting for me.. She measured an inch below my breasts.. (29") She said thats considered my "A" starting point and to add 3 letters onto that. A, B,C,D ... she said I would fit into a 30D better then a 36B?!?!?!?! I have nice size breasts - but a D?! I havent had a chance to go try one on yet, but I'm very interested to see if it works better. Does this sizing sound right?

I read up at various sources and found out that the volume of a 38B is the same as a 36C and 34D... a bigger cup doesn't always mean your boobs are big. At least that's what I found. When you size yourself for a bra, it's easiest if you fit the band first and then figure out your cup size. If you have a 29" underbust, it sounds right to wear a 30" band. So for every band size that you go down (from your 36B), you're going up a cup size which would bring you up to a D or DD at 30.

I used one of those bra sizing calculators online that told me I should wear a 38B. Well I was curious and doubtful, being a D cup all of my life, I tried one on and the cups actually fit, but the band was way too big. My underbust is 34". However, I also tried on a 34D bra and that fit better than any bra I've ever tried or worn. I'm in love with it. It's even difficult to find a 34D... I can't even imagine a 30 :|... Good luck!

It's probably true! I was wearing a 34A for years (it never fit exactly right), but then got a professional fitting and found out I am actually a 30C. They are harder to find in the 30 bands since most stores do not carry them, but my 30C fits soooo good. I wish I knew about it earlier! It just sucks having to go to speciality stores or having custom sizes made.

I would go with the professional. They know how to fit you comfortably. I too thought I was smaller until I was fitted in the correct size bra. I look and feel much better and have less back problems.

Does your cup runneth over in your usual bras? That's a pretty good indication that you need a larger cup size. Give it a try. It'll probably make the "girls" more comfortable. And what a boost to your self-esteem to move a couple steps up the endowment ladder.

Okay according to my chart she is correct inasmuch that a 30d has a 36B equivalent.

According to the measurements you supply your are in fact a 32B cup. not a 30D. A huge difference to a 36B or 30D

I think you re-measure yourself and give the correct sizes as measured and we can work it out for you.

you should try one on and see how it feels, i saw a thing on operah and she said something like 80% of women wear the wrong size bra. it would probably be a lot more comfortable 4 u if that is ur size, im sure she knows what shes talkin about =)

If the woman that meauserd you is a professional then you should trust her. You should try the type of bra she said and see if yours or the one she said feels better.

isn't it the version between the rib cage/physique measurment and the boob (perfect around boobs) measurment in inches - ith one inch being a length up - so if physique = 36 and boobs = 38 may be a B etc - so one million inch difference = A and a pair of = B and 3 = C and four = D etc etc ??

yes because, like 75% of women wear the wrong size of bra their whole life???? they mentioned it on OPRAH!!! so yeah, i guess its a very good chance that you were wearing the wrong sized bra the whole time.

i've never heard of a 30D...go to a bra store [victoria's secret, maidenform, etc] and asked to be sized. they're pretty cool about it.
