Most of the discharge that you describe is normal. The thick white discharge is called spin barkeet. After this discharge goes away it is almost colorless and very thin (this is the time when a woman is most fertile). Now, a brown discharge is not normal unless it is perhaps at the end of your period or at the beginning. Could be that it is just old blood or that you did not wipe properly. Make sure you clean yourself from front to back. If it is itching or has a foul odor then you need to tell your mother because it could be an infection.

The brownish colored discharge is old blood. Sometimes blood can occur for a bit before the actual period comes. This is called spotting.

As for talking to your mom you let her know that you would like to talk to her in private about something that makes you a bit uncomfortable but need to tell her.

Your mom has been thru this before hun and she will do everything she can to try and help you. If you find however that she is not willing to talk about this then I would recommend talking to another female family member or trusted female adult friend about your concern and also your dr whenever you go in for your next physical. They too are used to getting these kind of questions and will do what they can to help you as well.

A brown discharge right before or after your period is not unusual, it's basically old blood. However if you are having pain or there is a foul odor it might be more cause of concern. Anyway to be on the safe side you really should consult your Doctor for a proper diagnosis.

Well, the white jelly discharge means you are ovulating, and the jelly brown or yellow means that you might have yeast infection, so seek doctor advice.

the brown was most likely blood and everything sounds normal if you have not been sexually active!
