Because with my mother it'd be really akward and with my close friend she's taught people before it'd still be akward but maybe not as much. I dont know she offered tonight but i was sorta scared i guess you could say? I really need to start wearing them i just dont know where to start. [i want to also.] Have any advice or anything about all of it?

And FYI my mother is like really weird about sex, tampons, and all that stuff, she like avoids . And my friends are all open about everything.

I would suggest having a friend tell you how to do it, read the directions on the box and practice. That is such a personal thing, it is something that you can teach yourself.

I would go with a friend because she's open about this topic. Even thought your mom would be the ideal person to do this, you might be putting her in the akward position of saying no, or worse saying something out of place just because she's uncomfortable.
BTW, I say you ignore those who say to read the instruction. It might not be rocket science but I tried it and I did it all wrong. And I'm not a dumb person, it is just when you don't know where to start, reading the instructions is not an option.

It woud depend on who you are most comfortable with. Inserting a tampon is a very personal intimate act. And no matter who your mentor is, it takes practice. When you get it right, its comfortable. You don't even know its there.
If your mother is uncomfortable, you might be better learning with the friend.

well, MY mom doesnt use tampons..so i couldnt ask her.. and about 4 months ago, when i started (for the month), we were out of pads..so i actually called my pastor's wife to help me out.. but if youre mom is really that nervous when it comes to these things, you should tottally have your friend help you.

i sorta feel bad telling you to get help from your friend tho, 'cus this seems like a "mother's job".. like you're leaving her out or something.. why dont you ask her about it first. like.. not "how-to", but ask her about them.. If she's cool with answering your questions(and doesnt try changing the subject), just ask her to help.

OTHERWISE, get your friend, or read the instructions(altho, they're pretty retarted..They tell you to put your foot on the toilet and stuff lol)

Have you thought of teaching YOURSELF about it? I did. Used them just fine! You can too. If your mom is weird about it, then dont go there. My mom was weird to. I got my favourite aunt to tell me SOME things about sexual items. Learned some from friends. But most of all I taught myself...there is always instructions, usually with picture/diagram in the box....get one, read it and then decide.

It's a normal thing, since you friend is willing to help, let her. Or you could see the nurse at school or your Phiz Ed. teacher, anyone you trust and feel comfortable with.
I know that some girls don't get it right even with instructions, so don't feel bad if you need more direction.

I'd go for whoever you feel most comfortable asking. There's not all that much to it - just put a bit of petroleum jelly on the tip, and insert it gently, being sure the string remains outside the vagina. Once it's in place and comfortable, you're done. Nobody showed me how; I just did it, and it worked fine.

Most tampons come with a pamphlet in the box with handy instructions!

Can't you just read the instructions and figure it out yourself? I'm a guy so I don't know about these things, but I'd imagine there are always instructions on those things.

You have a 3rd option if you would like to try it. Ask the school nurse or even your dr at your next check up, or even another female family member.
