You can get an wireless adapter for a computer that doesn't have one built into it. In order to hook into an ADSL you need to have a ADSL modem that hooks into your standard phone line and a wireless router or a wired router. There are "all-in-ones" ADSL modem and wireless router in one unit. Then you have to have a Ethernet cable or a wireless PCMIA adapter for your notebook, whatever way you decide to go. PCMIA wireless adapter cards fit into a slot on the side of your older notebook computer. ADSL is only available in certain areas, check with providers on the net and they will tell you if ADSL service is in your area.

Your network port may have been disabled, so.

To establish weather or not a RJ45 (network) port has been disabled or not, do the following:

Click: Start/Control Panel/Internet Options. Now select the “Connections” tab and click “Setup”.

This will open the “New Connection Wizard, click “Next”.

Select “Connect to the internet, “click “Next”.

Select “Set up my connection manually, click “Next”.

Select “Connect using a broadband connection that is always on”, click “Nest”.

Click “Finish”.

First & foremost make sure that your cable has been crimped in a proper manner, but if the problem still exits; you have got to inspect all the cable's & the router.

It could be your ethernet cable; it might be broken. Try using another cable.
