Depends on what kind of a calculator you have which buttons you push, but taking anything to the 1/7th power is the same as taking the 7th root.

On most calculators, you enter the base number first - the number you are raising to a power - then push the exponentiation key or key combination, and finally enter the power to which you want to raise the base. Don't forget to enclose your fraction in parentheses; otherwise your calculator will take your base to the first power - which gives your base back as a result - and divide the result by 7. The exponentiation key may either have an x with a superscript y on it or it may simply be denoted by a caret or up arrow, similar to what appears above the number 6 in most computer keyboards.

A seventh square root is different from a 7th root----just so you

know. You can punch in a seventh root in your calculator if you

have the right kind, just as the others described. That 7th

square root of N sounds like a 128th root :

the square root fo N, then the square root of that, then the

square root of that........ seven times = N^{(1/2)^7}

= N^(1/128).

should be a y^x button on the your calculator..there is on most scientific calculators...y represents the base, x the exponent...so for example if you want to find the 7th root of 4, which is 4^1/7, you would press 4 than y^x than 1/7. If you don't have that on your calculator...get a new one!!! (seriously..the exponent button is SO useful)

Raise the quantity to the one seventh (1/7) power:

For example, to find the seventh root of 5, do 5^(1/7)
In general, to find the nth root of a quantity, raise it to the 1/n power.

I hope this helps you out!
