I just scratched my arm, and it feels like my whole body is itching now

Its because the Itch's are actually little invisible aliens and when you scratch them, well, thats how they breed. Yep, now you know the secret that's driven me crazy.

Itch or pruritus is an unpleasent sensation that provokes your desire to scratch.
There are types of itch, neurons that transmit it, and chemical that causes it.
So when you're feeling itchy and you want to scratch them and you DID, it triggers the inflammation/ excitation of C-nerve fibers which will induce more chemicals to be released causing further itch sensations. And this chemicals which are released by your inflammed skin cells will go to systemic circulation causing other area to feel the sensation.
In conclusion, whenever you're feeling itchy, just try to fight the urge or distract your mind from the itch.

because you have a rash now. scratching breaks the skin and forms rashes. its better to rub it, but that sometimes doesnt really help, but it wont rash. oh i just read the rest of your question and you said your whole body starts to itch. prolly just in your head. but keep the rest of that info in mind also

Because the itchies panic and scatter when you scratch them, and they're under assault. They race to different parts of your body to regroup, and you have to hunt them down and slay them individually.

i had a dry spot on my foot that was itching, my head itches. and my skin is crawling.....im gonna go shower, maybe it will help!

its all in your head..its beacsue the nerve endings begin to fire,,and you begin to think of your skin and sensations so you feel itchy elsewhere
