You are not understanding the the history and power of words. Black and hispanic are seen as a "culture" because they haven't been divided nationally. So when you see a black/hispanic channel or church, you are seeing a place or thing that represents that culture. When you here black power or latino power, you hear something that represents a culture. White is not considered a culture because it has so many sub-groups. You have Italian, German, Irish, etc. There are Italian churches, scholarships, etc. Why do you think that nobody gives a rat's *** if you scream "Irish Power" but they glare when you scream "white power"? Because white is not a culture, it is NOT an identity. It is a color that many have used and tarnished by disgusting racial acts. "white power" had it's chance and I'm sorry to say but it was taken advantage of and used for evil that may never be reversed. And that will be forever sketched in America. This is why people are less agitated by "Irish power" or "Swedish power" because they see it as a representation of someone's heritage, when white isn't a symbol of heritage.

First of all you will never be remotely close to being a "Racist", because have no and will never have monetary power. In order to be a "Racist" you must be able to control races other than your own. Now since you and I both know that you that you make less than $50,000 a year (which is not a lot of money) so basically the only thing you control is your remote. Now, about the TV station part of you question. I have a feeling that you are referring to "BET" and "Telemundo", you have had the your white TV for years. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN. SO where is the problem? You must realize that for years people of color were not allowed to work at these places unless they were menial jobs. The funny thing is that MTV, which is a white owned station also owns BET. So in conclusion you must realize that you can not even rub shoulders with the Execs of the stations I just named and you are upset because Blacks and Hispanics want to be able to communicate in their on way. You are actually left out on both sides. Just accept the fact that these telecommunication companies exist and watch the one you feel most comfortable with. As far as your "Proud to be White", shirt wear it as much as you want. I can't speak for all black people but the ones I associate with feel that you will get more negative backlash from liberal whites for wearing that shirt than you will from Blacks.

well here look at it like this. if you let all the blacks have their own group, and all the hispanics and other races have their own group, then all thats left is white people. so there are no other races really except the white people, so thats their group. no one else is in it...its like have choclate chips and then dark choclate chips, and then white chocolate chips. put the chocolate chips in one group. those are the hispanics, and then seperate the dark chocolate chips from them too, those are the black peple. and al thats left if the white chocolate chips...so thats their group.
if u want a serious answer....im black and white and do not understand this either..but i find no problem in letting white people wear a shirt that says ' im proud to be white ' but the rest of the nation does. it might have something to do with the KKK

It's cause after the whole slave thing, it kind of gave whites a bad image as being racist. (And also the hitler and nazi thing which also adds to that). Plus minorities are well...minorities. You dont see anything about men's studies like you do with women's studies. You can see awards given to women who have done a lot for women but you dont see awards given to men who've done a lot for men. You'll see awards about how some minorities have done a lot for minorities but not how whites have done much for whites. So in a way it is sort of racial, but it also deals with being a minority.
But yes it does suck to not be able to say you're proud of being white. You are right, if you were to put a sticker saying "white power" and drove around in compton with it on your car you probably would get shot or something. So just be proud in your head or be proud silently as unfortunately it is a stigma for people who are white and those who aren't but look white(kinda like me). Everyone mentioned the stupidity but nobody mentioned the danger.

the "black" radio stations and tv channels aren't necessarily saying they are an all black station, they promote it that way by having african americans as hosts or guests from what I've seen, and as for the spanish stations, they promote them more obviously by being in spanish.
There are "white" stations too, or things that we percieve as white stations. I would say something like the golf channel is white, but there is obviously a number of great black golfers, the best of them being Tiger Woods, but because golf is thought of as a snooty type of game, I think it is more associated as white.
As far as clothing style or dialect, white people aren't in any distinguished category. There are other languages like spanish, or dialects such as ebonics that are associated with their race and that is what appeals to them and sets them apart, but white people cling to a larger variety and that is why one particular niche does not appeal to every white person to create a "white" station on the radio or channel on tv.
There is nothing wrong with being white, but white people cant be seperated into any specific category so if you say I'm proud to be white, you would be percieved as being racist because to other people you would appear to be making the distinction on your skin color alone and not by any associated cultures or stereotypes.

You people have had this same argument for years and have not done a thing about it. You think that saying you are proud is the reason that we think that you are a racist. We think that you are a racist because 95% of you are born that way. I have been to a lot of places. I have only seen one decent white person on here, one decent white man in the world, and one virtuous white woman.

Nothing is wrong with being white.
The deal is this: If you are a majority or of high status (by a color or strength or height or numbers or intelligence, etc.), you are often considered "top person on the totem pole".
Top people should not make fun of non-majority or lower-status people, or flaunt their "top" status in front of those people.
Minority or lower-status people CAN flaunt themselves because they need to have pride in themselves since they can't be top status.
(What's the current top dog in the USA? I'm guessing tall, athletic, good-looking white males in their 30's. If you are not one of those, then you are further down the totem pole.)
So, for example: people who have brown eyes (large numbers) should not make fun or flaunt their brown-eyed status in front of orange-eyed people (small numbers - if any!).
People who are NOT considered high status often have their own groups because of two reasons: there are either fewer of them or because the high status people consider it lowering to be part of their group.
So orange-eyed people group together because there are fewer of them and it's nice to be around others of the same kind sometimes. And brown-eyed people may consider it beneath them to be part of the orange-eyed group.
The main rule of etiquette is: don't flaunt your majority status or higher status - however your status was determined.
The orange-eyed people can flaunt all they want because the brown-eyed people figure the orange-eyed people need something to keep them happy and are willing to let them have pride in their groups since they can't be part of the brown-eyed majority.
(Did any of that make sense?)

Ok fair enough you're WHITE. but that isn't a nationality. white is not a nation. you're forgetting your ancestry. are you from england, ireland, scotland, wales? i bet you've forgotten your culture. look at cultural countries like south american, middle eastern, oriental, etc. they are connected with their land, belief and customs no matter in which country they now live in. being WHITE is not a culture or nationality. recognise that before u think ur proud of it.
