Will DOES return 10 years later, after the credits roll and Elizabeth and their son are waiting for him. And he IS now free from the curse. Some people think he is still cursed but that is not true. The producer had to remove some footage and for some reason left out a very important part. This is what Jerry Bruckhiemer said.... "Twenty minutes were removed, not including end credits. One scene cut explained that if Calypso had greeted Davy Jones after his ten years of ferrying dead souls, then he would have been freed of his duty: in turn, Will is freed of his captaincy as Elizabeth remains faithful to him ten years later." God only knows why he cut THAT scene but Will is free after his 10 years. THANK GOD. I was crying like a baby because I thought he was stuck that way.

I'm really disappointed in the ending too. It's like a double whammy- first Will can only see his son and wife every ten years and second- Elizabeth will age and eventually die while Will is immortal.

I'd also like to know where ppl got the idea that the curse was lifted. Just because Will returns ten years later to discover he has a son doesn't mean that the curse is lifted, he could just be visiting again. I asked a question like this yesterday, and barely anyone answered. That's why I'm watching it again, so I can catch the line that says that. Other than that, for those who have proof of this, could you plz post a link.

I also know for sure that if there is a fourth one, Elizabeth's character won't be included as Keira Knightley is tired of playing it. Disney has announced that there won't be fourth one for this trilogy, but there might be another spin-off movie about Jack because Johnny still wants to do another one.

It IS actually explained by the writers that the curse was in fact broken. They addressed this issue on their website's forum, but unfortunately, due to so many hits, the forum is down until Monday. Their website is wordplayer.com and you can find the specific link on wikipedia.org on the Discussion page of "Elizabeth Swann."

It was confirmed that the flash of green indicated that Will's curse had been broken because he had found true love with Elizabeth and she had stayed faithful to him those ten years, that is why the writers said the end scene was VERY important to the story as it wraps everything up in a nice, happy bow (although still bittersweet as Will followed the footsteps of his father and missed the first 9 years of his son's life). The original cut of the movie had scenes explaining this aspect of the curse, but they were cut for time without the writer's knowledge (they don't control what is edited out). I suspect this will be explained further in the DVD extras, and, of course, on said forum.

It explained the 10 year thing in the second movie..
when Davy Jones was after Jack (the jar of dirt) he had to spread it on the ground if jones was around him, because that would of been his one time in 10 years to be on dry land..
therefore... at the end when it says 10 years later, Will is using his once in 10 years time to visit his family....
no curse was lifted...

Ya I agree but that`s the whole point the ending has to leave you with questions. They are probably making another one somehow elizabeth will be able to see him I mean what if she sees him when hes davy Jones? What will happen? I guess we are going to have to wait and see.

bittersweet.

i would have thought that someone would have figured out how to get him back within 10 years--but the way i saw the clip, the curse was still on.

even if they make a sequel, they now have to take into account there will be a pregnancy and a kid she has to drag around. not that it can't be done but....

SPOILER COMING: LOOK OUT!!!!

_______

OKAY, this is HONESTLY what my predictions are for the next movie: So, Jack & Barbossa are after the fountain of youth now, right? and if u drink it, you will live forever...so, what i think is that will turner will now go look for it so that he may give it to elizabeth and his son so that they may live forever and will not have to worry about them dying! the pirates might also drink from it because at the beginning of this movie, THEY KILLED OFF all of the pirates and if they die, there will be NO MORE PIRATES LEFT!!!! so, the only way to save the pirates is to drink from the fountain of youth!
anyone agree with me???

For once a movie where everyone doesn't end happily ever after!! Hooray!! It adds to the romantic effect, and I personally liked the ending. As for the curse... I haven't the slightest what you are talking about.

no, he cant come on land except once every ten years . but she can go visit him on the ship for a day here and there. they never said she couldnt go on the ship ever, just that she couldnt go with him cuz it goes under water and stuff. i never heard that ten years and it broken thing tho. and ive watched like fifty gillion interviews and stuff. and im almost positive they'll end up making a 4th one so we'll just have to wait and see :)
