My teacher(who hits me)said that Wal-Mart makes the world go around because there are so many of them in one spot and god dosent like it so he made the world spin so that Wal-Mart would get burnt up into the sun but then I found out that there is no Wal-Mart in the african countries......My head hurts.....I forgot the question but.....Oh yeah what makes the world go round?

Your teacher is half wrong.

The Walmarts do make the world spin, but not because of God.
Walmart has these huge warehouses (in the US) full of goods they buy from China/India, so as these goods get shipped across the planet, it shifts the equilibrium point and tilts the planet. Obviously since this shifting is going on 24/7, the world is in perpetual tilt, so it feels like it's spinning.

It also explains why there's no Walmart in Africa (obviously Africa is the best continent to have Walmarts, since they need the cheaper prices), because warehouses in Africa are too close to Asia, goods won't transfer enough mass and it will slow down the rotation of the planet. (Which makes the days longer, which means Walmart has to pay employees more, so they don't do it)

It's actually not caused by Wal-Mart, as the earth was spinning long before that company existed. Now that we have that sorted out, the reason the earth spins is because back when the earth was being formed, the rocks, gas, and dust that accumulated to form the earth were themselves spinning.

Just like it's very difficult to throw a penny directly up in the air without it spinning a little bit, the same goes for the formation of a planet. And after the earth was formed into an oblate spheroid, it just kept on spinning, since there is nothing to stop it. And in fact, the effect of gravity only keeps the earth "glued" together. It has no effect on the spinning of the planet.

Next question is, will Wal-Mart be able to stop the earth from spinning?

Besides Wal-nut or Wal----whatever, what makes the wordl go round is CONVENIENCE for the stock market....because you see...without it, the hour difference with the european and asian markets, would be the same, and the losses, hughe.
On the other hand, the first law of Newton (as to it refers to astrophysics, that states that a body, impulsed in the space will travel an elypse with the same speed and rotation etc etc....) was abolished by the great consortia (HONDA, Mitsubishi, Sony, Siemens, you name it).....have abolished that law, and are thinkking of buyig the rest of this poor planet....
Remember too, the slaverers (sorry, employers) are going to increase the hours of the day by 28, so we have to work 12 flat hours a day....imagine that,,,,,will we survive.??...
Anyway, and after all, I think what makes the world go round is love, just love.....(for everybody elses money)

It seems you have bigger issues than physics but...

The "world goes around" it's rotational axis (it's pole, if you will) due to angular momentum. That is, once a body starts spinning, it cannot lose that angular moment without transferring it elsewhere. The cosmological explanation for this is that as a planet coalesces from dust, the gravitational pull of the various particles causes it to collapse and spin. As the planet forms and compresses the rotational rate increases. Think of an ice skater spinning; as she pulls in her arms, she spins faster. If she were spinning on a frictionless surface, she would spin forever unless acted upon by an outside force.

Around the Sun: The gravitaional force of the sun and its momentum...Think of the earth as an asteroid that is going perfectly straight; it then passes a very large and massive object (the sun). The asteroid wants to continue going in its path, the straight line; however, the sun's gravitational pull is so great that it pulls it back. This is constantly happening. The earth wants to go forward, and the sun pulls it back.

I would like to have a few words with your teacher he would be spinning in a hurry. Everything in the universe spins as it orbits some other body this is a natural outcome of the evolution of the universe.
