I am in football right know and i was recently injured when a dove for a fumble and a few people landed on my bent knee. I went to the doctor 2 days ago and they took and xray and it had nothing to do with my bones so the doctor said it appeared to be either cartlidge or a ligament. When i injured my knee i felt a sudden sharp pain only for abouit a minute then the pain went away for about 30 minutes. I didnt hear a pop but I was in the middle of a pile up and everyone was yelling so i dont know if it did pop. Ive been using crutches the past days but my knee only hurts when i try to walk without them for more then 10 steps. My doctor said she will give me a MRI in 2 weeks. I feel the pain in the bottom and back of my knee and i cannot make my knee straight at all. i wanted to know if anyone had an idea of my problem. THanks.

First off, see an orthopedist. Secondly, even if you were in a pile of players you would have felt the pop. How swollen in the knee? Does the knee feel unstable? If it does it may be an ACL tear, however your doc should have found this. If you have pain on the inside part of your knee and localized swelling over the inside of the knee you may have a MCL sprain. If you have pain on the lateral side of your knee you may have an LCL sprain.
You could also have an injury to your meniscus. A meniscus injury will cause swelling in the joint, it will also cause a lot of pain when trying to extend your knee. When trying to get into a deep knee bend you will also experience pain.
Lastly, there is a chance you may have subluxed your patella. If you try to move your patella toward the outside of your knee and you are apprehensive about it, you may have sublixed your patella.
Nonetheless, you need an MRI. Also, I would go see and orthopedist. A genral med doc should have doen special tests on your knee to test the integrity of your ligaments and meniscus. For know, keep it braced, and try to get that MRI expedited

Sounds like it's either your anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or one of your meniscus (cartilage cushions btwn your femur and tibia...upper leg and lower leg) You have two meniscus in each knee joint. A medial (toward the mid-line of your body) one and a lateral (toward the outside of your body) one. Know one will know for sure until you see the MRI (magnetic resonating Imagery). They use magnets that they pass over you body to create a picture and see non-bony structures. Being that in is at the bottom and back of your knee I'd guess ACL...and if that's true it could be anything from a sprain to a tear (partial or whole). Don't be too worried until you find out from the MRI. The good news is that most things with the knee are fixable nowadays! Good luck!

go to a sports injuriy specialist. I went to doctors for 2 months. After 1 visit and an mri the next day, i went in for surgery. The doctors said it would be fine and put it in am immobizer, the specialist said it would have caused more damage if it had gone on and on

If ther was damage you would not be able to take 10 steps even. It sounds like you brused the knee and that there is some swelling going on. Ice it and stay off of it to let the swelling go down.
