even if what you are saying is the truth--IT ISN'T YOUR TRUTH TO TELL.
just don't ask the question. "curiousity killed the cat" you don't need an answer to every meaningless thought that roams through your head. sometimes it is better just to wonder.

@ tina
what you find polite may offend them. you can't say something is polite, and expect that to work for all ppl. some ppl are hard to offend, some aren't...it matters what those persons experiences are

I disagree.....Americans need to be less PC

If you got a question, then you should ask it....if you don't have a decent answer for a decent question, then don't answer it.....I get some blunt as ***** questions on here about my ethnicity, but I don't cry about it - I give them a witty or informative answers and press on

Maybe they genuinely want to know the answer, maybe like the first answerer (!) here - they are knobs who seem to collect points for the sake of collecting (don't get that myself)

Personally, I am a very curious person and often would like to know things about peoples backgrounds, beliefs, countries of origins etc. but have found it prudent to temper my curiosity and be more sensitive to the "situation" in which you are asking.

It's a lot easier in real life 'cos I smile a lot and people usually realise that I genuinely have an interest in them and their lives, and would like some information about them / their culture that is not via the media that I can trust to be an honest opinion or real view point.

I haven't been using this website for long but it would appear even harder to ensure questions (and answers) are taken in the spirit in which they are meant. Guess I'll have to be more careful on here - and wait for the screaming to start if I cross a line!

I like when people ask questions about other races. It's their intentions that will determine how they respond. If they are truly questioning to understand, then more power to them. I'd rather at least one person correct their stereotypical views rather then to press on with misinformation. If it's just to stir up commotion like the guy walking around with the 'chicken head', then they alternatively are bored and need someone to feed what little amusement they have.

Do you mean if they ask a polite, non-insulting question and people are mean to them? That would be a good reason to be mad at the answerers.
