I need help with my computer's usb ports?

Question

I just got a new sync cable for my Zune and I don't know why, whenever I try plugging it into my computer, it messes up and "jams up" my usb ports, and nothing else can be plugged in to my computer. Help?

Did your cable come with an installation CD? If so, you'll need to run it to install the new drivers. However, sometimes it's required that you NOT plug the cable in until the appropriate drivers have been installed. Also, it would be a good idea to restart your comp after the drivers have been successfully installed.

If it didn't come with a CD containing drivers, try a different USB port. Perhaps that particular port burned out. Have you used this port for anything else recently?

Note: You might want to check out what speed your USB ports are. If you have older USB ports and your new cable is designed for the new USB 2.0 ports, your problem is likely a speed compatibility issue.

To determine if your computer has a USB 2.0 port, you must be logged on as an administrator to perform these next steps.

- Open Device Manager. (You can do this by doing a right-mouse click on your My Computer icon. Now, click on the Hardware tab. Then click Device Manager.) If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

I found that when I removed a flashdrive without "safely removing," another item plugged would not work. I had to reinsert the flashdrive, "safely remove" it, then the PC accepted a new item.

I think its because you need more power and the usb port probably sucks up to much power.Some computers can only support up to four devices connected. It depends on the power and also the motherboard,but then again I could be wrong.

you may need to install the driver for the Zune if you got a cd with it then install the driver first, then plug in the zune cable so that your system will find it.

if you have not got a cd then go to zune website and ask support for the answers to installing it

there is usb 1 and 2 technology if computer not equip with 2 for new equipment it may lock up the computer.
