Yes, but it's still dependent on the guest wanting to come to the show. If the guest they want doesn't or can't come, then someone else is chosen from a list of available guests.

Highly doubtful. I've seen some incredible mis-matches for that to be true.
Joe Pesci & The Spin Doctors?
Alec Baldwin & Christina Aguilera?
Paul Giamatti & Ludacris?
Robert DeNiro & Destiny's Child?
Al Sharpton & Pink?
Dan Akroyd & Beyonce?

They just book the people who have a new record or movie to promote.
