I don't know that it is "fixed" in the traditional sense. The producers certainly make choices that will lean in the direction they want. They chose a song that Jordin could sing and Blake had no chance with. It all comes down to who they think can make them the most money.

Aside from Cops, I can't think of a single reality show that isn't "fixed" or scripted in some way. Even some of the "World's Scariest..." videos are fake / scripted (i.e. The "Are you F***ing CRAZY!!" guy was a police training video & the driver was a cop).
American Idol can be rigged all it wants... it's not the State Lottery, so they won't have an accounting firm available unless they want to.

American Idol isn't fastened in any respect. The manufacturers can make a prediction of who is going to do properly in promoting records even even if it isn't the winner. look at what happened with Reuben and Clay. besides the actual shown reality that Reuben become the winner, Clay become also picked up with the help of American Idol and made his recordings and remains outshining Reuben. American Idol remains fascinated with Kelly Clarkson's existence and this become glaring with the help of her maximum present day recordings. American Idol had to scratch the completed album ....

It's most definitely fixed. It's an odd thing when you try to call the number for a certain singer and keep getting busy signals yet when you call Jordin or Blake's numbers you always get through? Plus Jordin was being groomed weeks before the finale.....she was getting much more attention than the other finalists re: clothing, makeup, etc.

No question... look how many good people went home, over Sanjaya?? As soon as they heard scrutiny about how he was only on the show for ratings, he was suddenly voted off. The show is clearly the search for the next "pop star" and Melinda, Lakisha and all the other great talent don't really fit that description. Plus, Jordin's fakeness is marketable to the target audience.

I don't think it's fixed per se, but I do think they amplify the contestant that they would like to win.
And yes, I think they should have an objective 3rd party handle the votes, just because no one can come back later and question it.

Here is what is fixed. Everyone that is connected with the show is getting filthy rich. It will stay on until they have made all the money they can.
