Here are a few inexpensive tips that actually work...
*Make a homemade pest strip by covering a paper towel or toilet paper roll with transparent tape (sticky side out to catch flies, mosquitos & other flying bugs, and hang it in several areas of your home.
*Cut strips of duct tape and hang around the house to catch flies ect.
*Keep a can of hairspray handy & spray the flies with it. It kills them almost instantly
*Fill a bowl with apple cider vinegar near some food(to attract the flies) & before the end of the night you will see a bowl full of flies.
*Flies hate WD-40 : Spray a cloth with WD-40 and hang discretely at all entrances ,outside, and you won't have any flies enetering the home.
I hope these help...Take care & God bless. GOOD LUCK!!

Yes, we had the same problem for a couple of years. They clearly hatched from eggs deposited the year before and were in our cellar. They, too, all pasted themselves on the windows and we just opened up the windows and pushed aside the screens to get rid of them.
I never found the nest, but there were fewer and fewer every year, and we haven't had any at all this year. Since this was in the unfinished part of our cellar with the washer/dryer and the storage area, we were never really in much contact with them.
So, either find the nest - yeh, unless you happen to have any decaying animals lying around that you just didn't notice before, good luck with that - or just open the windows a couple of times for a couple of days. That's all it takes. Next year or the year after that, they probably won't hatch at all.
Good luck - :)

As with most pest they will find an opening some place. They could be coming through you heating and or cooling vents.. Maybe a crack or hole some place you had no idea was there. If they got worse or continued to bother you I would call an exterminator. I hate it when there is a fly in my house. Drives me crazy so I really feel for you and wish you luck....

the flies are hatching from eggs that were laid last year when you undoubtedly had your door open. fortunately, they only have like a 4 day life span. however, when you kill them, others show up for the funeral (haha)

They are hatching in your house or apartment in enclosed areas above you, such as attics, where they lay their eggs in dead stuff, like mice and such that are decomposing. They lay their eggs above household heat sources. Sweep out attic and crawl spaces of all organic trash and dead critters.
