The re-arrangement of the letters of a word or sentence to produce a new form or a puzzle. Often an ingenious analogue to the original word can be found,
eg: total abstainers→sit not at ale bars.

no, an anagram is a word and then if you jumble the letters up to make a new word. For example: tea=ate=eat, Post=stop=tops=pots, trace=crate and so on.

I means taking a word (or sometimes a phrase) and shuffling the letters to come up with ONE OR MORE words. Usually, if more than one word, you want a meaningful phrase not just 2 random words.
This was illustrated in "The da Vinci Code" - more so in the book than the movie.
