my friend said it was celine dion, i say bette midler. my dad said celine dion wasnt even born yet when the song was made, and my mom said she thinks it was bette midler. please tell me so i can be right! or wrong :(

Celine had been born and was recording when the song came out. The song was originally recorded by Sheena Easton and Roger Whittaker separately in 1982. It was sung by Bette Midler for the movie Beaches in 1990. Several other artists recorded the song before Bette Midler recorded it.
