Lower class is an opinion. It's like ugliness. No one is going to be happy to admit they are ugly. And it's a matter of opinion. Also, it has nothing to do with money.
Ex: Paris Hilton: Low Class and Rich
people like Hillary Swank and Queen Latifah were High Class and Poor
by the way, why are you so upset that they call themselves middle class? You everyone in a service job to call themselves ghetto scum of the earth to make you feel better?

We don't live in an aristocracy, this is called a democracy and no one is of "lower class" than anyone else in America.
And don't even try to say that I'm jealous or whatever, because I happen to live in NY and in case you didn't know, real estate here is more expensive than LA.

Because your definition of upper-class is your opinion, nothing substantiated by any type of documentation or sources. Net worth usually comes in to play which takes assets in to account, which you said did not count, so I don't necessarily agree with you. If people were offended, why does it matter? You have your opinion, and they have theirs. Here's a better definition below.
