Hi Some are easy, some not so easy. AMD socket A is a breeze. It just clips on. Some require the motherboard to be removed so screws can pass through four holes. In any case, make sure to use the proper amount of a good thermal interface material. I use Arctic Silver 5, but there are others.

Yes it's easy. On your chipset where the CPU is located, there should be a pair of tabs or four screw-holes. Put a dab of cpu heat sink goopiness on the bottom of the heatsink/fan, and just attatch it to the CPU spot. Then just screw 'er down or clip the tabs back in place.

Piece of cake - all you need is the thermal paste to go between the cpu and the heat sink. This is a must.

most of the new ones just snap on I just got one about a month ago and it snaped right on no tools required just be carful though I was scared to death that if I snaped it in to quickly I might hurt the processor. by the way my new one already had thermal paste right on the bottom of the heat sink where the processor meets it.
