this is an honest question, a recent experience shows me that they really can't, but it'd be nice to hear other people's opinions on the subject and if they can't hold alcohol all that well.

When i said recent experience I didn't just mean one experience with one person, but several, and this questions been lingering on my mind for awhile and what happened yesterday reminded me of it, thanks for the answers thus far. I've known several of them, and to me, it seems as though they can't, but that's just my experience, and hence why I'm asking here to get a broader experience. Thanks

Well the weight of asians on average is much less than the weight of americans. They are generally smaller people. That is not a bad thing, thats just how it is. The less weight you have, the faster you get drunk. But hey it's cheaper to get drunk right?

I think their tolerance for alcohol increases with its use. Just like non Asians. I have seen more non Asians in a drunken state, demonstrating the obnoxious behavior and unsteady ambulation associated with drunkeness. Women are included in this group. I doubt, with the exception of Native Americans, the ability to hold their liquor is not culturally related. The liver of Native Americans, do not manufacture the enzyme necessary for the partial metabolism of alcohol we drink. However, partial is the independent variable and excessive drinking will make most of us drunk. Drinkers do develop a tolorence for alcohol, can drink an increasing volume, until the liver becomes cirrotic, and becomes less efficient of time. I hope this answers your question.

What kind of question is that?!!

I know several Asians who do not drink that much adn do not seem to have a problem with it. I don't know if they genetically have a low tolerance for it. Good question, though.

ability to hold ones liquor dun really matter with races. its has to do with individual built and living culture. try drinking with people living in the colder part of china. they drink up to 40% and above liquor and still standing. i have seen foreign people losing out to asian when it comes to drinking ability. i do disagree with your statement.

They have less tolerance because their ancestors purified their water by boiling it, not by fermenting it and turning it into alcohol, unlike Europeans and some other groups.

Do women have a hard time holding their liquor?

Depends on the person, nothing to do with race. Looks like we still have ways to go until race is no longer a stereotype.

Yeah they do they its in their genes. Evolution doing its work.

Cause nature as you and me also knows how bad alcohol is when digested.

Its a medical fact - from google scholar

They get drunk quicker, and have a harder time recovering from it because of a specific enzyme reaction.
