Freedom... Yes I believe that we should all enjoy our freedoms and in this I include your question of thought. However, with freedom comes the responsibility to no infringe upon others freedom. When ones thoughts are shared in speech it should be done so in a way that does not "hurt" others. Expression is invited, but words that are aimed at causing pain should be avoided. Freedom of thought, feel free. But be mindful of what those words can bring.

Of course I believe in freedom of thought. No matter how hard any government may try, it is impossible to regulate what people think (at least with today's technology). It is only possible to regulate what people say, and/or how they act upon their thoughts. Fortunately I live in a nation that has freedom of speech built into its constitution. Yes, I know there are those who say that their freedom of speech is being violated or in danger, but the fact that they are able to say that is proof that they are wrong. In other words, if you say out loud that your government is doing something wrong and do not go to jail for your speech, then you obviously still have the right to free speech.

I stand for free speech every day by freely speaking my mind. If you cower in the corner, it's your own fault. Follow the example of brave folks like Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, The Dixie Chicks, Dan Rather, Joe and Valerie Wilson, Michael Moore, and many more! STAND UP AND BE HEARD!!! Challenge them to do something about it, then; go after them with a vengeance for violation of first amendment rights!

Well put, MHFLDR, if I got your name right!
Thought can be dangerous and destabilizing as easily as it can be enlightening and liberating.
We owe it to ourselves to police our thinking and make sure it get's "aired out" from time to time. It's no honor to be a member of some "flat earth society," doggedly insisting something is, that isn't.
A further responsibility is to protect your thinking by subscribing to good mental health practices. I'm not too interested in the thoughts of someone who just gave a blow--- to a lightbulb filled with methamphetamine, etc.

People have been trying to control what other people, thought, wore, did, didnt do, where they went, what their hair looked like, how they worshipped, if they even should worship, what they ate, drank, smelled like,.............on and on and on.................People are power-hungry and nosey as hell. Which is why we have so many wars. But we always have freedom of thought because nobody can think our thoughts for us.
