Those two great years for Pedro gives him the edge over Randy. When they were both at the top of their game it would be a close call and they both have had some injury problems lately but I would have to go with Pedro.

Pedro was phenomenal for a couple years and merely great a couple more. Johnson is one of the best lefty pitchers ever...Pause for effect...EVER. When Pedro catches up to Randy in 6 or 7 years, assuming he's even effective when and if he comes back this year, and Randy Retires today, I'll think about re-evaluating and pick Johnson again.

Pedro is still a big question mark as he recovers from surgery. Randy needs to retire. So, how can one rate one better than the other at this time??

I will go with randy because he is pitching and we know what he has got not as dominate as he once was but still a good starter. I have my doubts about pedro getting back to form........we shall see.

At his very peak (1999-2000), Pedro was nigh untouchable. If I could have THAT Pedro, I'd take him. Outside of his peak, he's been very good to great when healthy, but I'd give Johnson the edge, and on career value.

This creates a very good debate. One thing I will say is that if you put Pedro's heart in Johnson's body, no one would have beaten him. That said, Johnson was dominant a lot longer period of time, and stayed healthier, so he gets the nod.

if both were completely healthy i would take pedro just because he is so dominating, but he is very untrustworthy with his health
