but the transfers are usually only for cotton. Is it possible to do an iron on transfer onto the satin itself, or would the heat of the iron scorch the fabric? Are there any tricks or tips that someone has, if it can be done?

Maybe you could transfer your image to a piece of cotton, then applique the cotton onto your satin?

Satin will melt if you use a heat transfer method. Try this --

I would test it on a small swatch cut from your fabric before you go ahead on the larger project.

the iron might melt the satin, satin simply is not a strong fabric meant for things like that.
