I graduated from highschool on Tuesday night. It had been announced to everyone at my church. A lot of people congratulated me, but the few people who I had been real close to never even acknowledged my achievement. Well...I also had a graduation party today, and those certain people didn't even show up! It was announced to everyone, so that means that everyone is invited! They knew about it. One of them had the nerve to say that she was too big for parties. Yea right! This was a GRADUATION party! What is the real deal with these certain people?

I'm sorry that happened to you, but a lot of people are like that. Now that you are out of high school you will realize that there are many people who have that sort of mannerism; going out of their way to belittle you even if it's in a passive-aggressive way such as what happened to you. To you I say, CONGRATULATIONS, you accomplished something huge in your life and you are on your way to adulthood. It's a wonderful road full of fun bumps and ups and downs, but don't let others' negativity get in your way. Concentrate on how proud your parents are of you, and the other people who congratulated you, these are the people who are worth being close to in life. Don't give others the time of day if they are degrading you or anyone else.

Hey congratulations! I graduate on this up comming Tuesday. I find that graduating kind of defines who your real friends are, because when your in school they dont have to make much of an effort to hang out or meet up with you, because your all at the same place(school). Now that you are out of school you have to make an effort to remain aquainted with each other and keep your friendship together. If they are not willing to do that then it just shows how good of friends you really have. Maybe something you have said or done recently has offended them, if I was you I would confront them and see what thier deal is, they could just be messing with you, altough it seems like a pretty mean joke. Like I said though your senior year really defines who going to be there for you after high school, or atleast it did for me. Dont let it bother you though this is a time to celibrate, and im sure you have other friends that are willing to be there for you. Congatulations again and I wish you much success in your future.

Congratulations It's not easy to graduate from High school I know I graduated and so far two of my daughters have graduated. But I do have to ask you a question who did you graduate for?? Yourself or them? When you at the next stage of your life whether it's a job or college will these people be there with you?? Will what they thing really matter in your life in a year? If so than you should talk to them about it, If not you should just accept that not everyone sees things the way that you do and to realize that we do things like go to school so that Our live and the lives of our future family's will do well not to impress some high school classmate that we may not even know where they are in four years.

Congratulations! Way to go!

I don't know much about these people. You didn't describe who they were to you and what a typical hangout/chat is. So maybe this is just the way that they are wired? Also, I would not let them control my emotions by putting me in a bad mood. Just when it's their turn for some important event you can choose to be supportive or give them a taste of their own medicine.

Remember: what goes around comes around.

Stop worrying about the people that you think were your friends. This will happen alot in your life because there are always people that enjoy seeing others suffer and if the other person achieves something, they try to mess it up, they are just jelous. Let them be, enjoy your life, be happy, and continue with your success. Congrats and now, work hard in college.
Good luck!!!

They are green with envy, plain and simple.

It doesn't matter who organised the party - if you want to celebrate and give yourself a big pat on the back for your achievement, you go right ahead and do it - if others dont like it, that's their problem.

Oh, and congratulations!

Kind regards, Penny xxx

Maybe, being especially close to you, they expected you to specifically invite them.

"Everyone here is invited" isn't a way of letting people know that they are special to you, and you would be especially disappointed if they don't come.

You treated your closest friends in the same way as you treated everyone who happened to be in church that day.

I'm guessing you hurt their feelings.

Unless there's something else going on.

depends on the family. In mine, a H.S. diploma isn't relavent, and a Bachelor's barely merits acknowledgement. The Masters is the legit achievement. So maybe they just aren't all that impressed that you just graduated high school.

Graduating from high school isn't a major achievement in your life and perhaps these people realize this and think it's not worth showing up. It's just high school! Jeez, any chimpanzee with half a brain can complete it.
