As a hippie I can tell you that easy going people DO CARE. They have passion, in some instances more than most people.
Dont give up on caring as some people here may suggest. In actuality you should strive to care, even deeper, for the important things in life. It may appear that easy going people just dont care about anything. In fact they have found knowledge that allows them to understand the differences between the truly important things in life and the things that they should not be affected by.
They know who they are, I urge you to seek yourself. I think its time for a life changing journey, the only problem now is you have to figure what that journey may be.
Remember....... its not about the destination its about the Journey.

Well I will ask you the reverse question...Why are you so uptight? Are you feeling pressured by your friends, family, job? Are you putting pressure on yourself to make others happy or pressure to complete unrealistic goals? It sounds like maybe you are doing these things to yourself, and if so...you have to learn to stop. You can't please everyone, especially if you're not pleasing yourself. Take a vacation - even if it's just for the day - do something you enjoy, with no one else around...and find out why you are feeling so depressed and tense. You can't just become carefree and easy going - you have to truly feel that way. And don't let others take advantage of you - that is an easy trap to get caught up in! The more you believe in yourself, the more confident you will feel - and with that will come a sense of freedom!
I wish you the very best!!!
Peace.

If you really have to force your self to act happy maybe you should think about getting help for clinical depression. Being easy going and carefree if you're clinically depressed is impossible because depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. IF you have felt this way for more than two weeks it's a sign of clinical depression and you should talk to your doctor about it. If you don't have a doctor you should contact your county an mental health asscocitaion and they will be able to help you. Only you can say how long these feelings have lasted and how bad they make you feel, but if they have lasted for at a minimum of two weeks Please talk to a doctor or mental health provider.

There is no such thing as being carefree. Just try and take things as they come. Remember that the little things that bother you now, you might regret later. For instance, always try and be patient with people and animals. You'll find out later that the little things that made you make a callous remark or fly off the handle never really mattered. What mattered was how you treated people and animals. You won't regret anything then.

Good you are thinking of very good thing like being easy going and carefree...Thats good...What I feel from your words is you have very good positive thinking but just you have a little fear and if u try to overcome it then I think you will definitely get success and definitely be carefree and take every thing positively and will never get depressed....
When ever you get depressed you think just one thing like how others can face situations and if they only an face it then why cant you face it!!! Take it as challenging and face it then you will definitely know the path to get success and see I am telling you that you will grow up suddenly in which field you select...It is not just philosophy and it is fact that I experienced in my life...Just try it and observe the result....All the Best....

Jeesh that is so hard to answer ... im a carefree, careless, easy going guy. I just do what ever i want, i guess i dont worry about the past, after something happens, if its tramatic or bad, i erase it from my mind. Part of my life is always telling me "**** happens" and its just that simple, **** happens to every one, that and i stop look around and pull my suroundings in, you may have it bad, but as much as its hard to relize there are people out there that have it worst.
Carefree means just that, dont care, no worries. When some one gets on you, dont let it upset you, listen to what they say, anailze weather its important or not, take it in, or flip'em off. Yea there are concecences for things, but if you worry about them, your not really being carefree ar you?

I became more comfortable over time by acting more outgoing. Before a stressful event I'd put on some upbeat music and head out the door. I did most of this with people who didn't know me since they didn't know what I was really like.
I use to feel like something bad was going to happen and I felt anxiety all the time. I no longer do this, since I became a Christian I think differently since I know God is leading my life.
I'm still not an out coming person but I did improve.

Hi Cami!
Before you become easy going, you have to define how easy going applies to you. Then, you have to find the source of your depression. It may be that you are a perfectionist, and that's OK, if that's whom you are.
But the most important thing you need to do, is be happy with yourself and accept yourself, just the way you are.
You can only be happy after being unhappy, so you may be close to being happy :)
One of the secrets of being easy going is learning not to judge, and that should always start on yourself. You can only learn to practice being non judgmental one day at a time... so take your time :)

Me too. I am always worrying about something....It seems like once I concur one crisis my mind finds another to worry about....I have little patients with most people and cant understand how more people dont see life as one disappointment after another...when I was younger I had hope but the older I get I see that this is as good as it gets and sometimes that really sucks....
I will stop now cuz I dont want to upset you more....at least you know you are not completely alone even if you are not as bad as all that
..I hope your day gets better

I consider myself really easy going, to the point where i don't give a crap about anything. I still get depressed though and i don't even know by what :P
Just don't care about stuff, relax and don't worry. Of course its not all its cracked up to be. You might get fired from your job but on the plus side you wont care :}
