Should I just tell my husband that they couldn't afford to buy him anything for Father's Day on account of the fact that they don't have jobs. And I didn't get him anything because he's not MY dad. Would that go over well, do you think? And maybe throw in, "Oh honey, btw, take us out for dinner and help me clean the house. I've been really busy spoiling my Dad. It is father's day, you know."

Sounds to me like it is craft time. Get out some construction paper, crayons, fingerpaint, or whatever you choose, and let them make daddy their own father's day card. As for dinner that would be a gift from you, go to his favorite restaurant. Skip on the house cleaning that works out well for you both. Just take a day off.

He's a good guy, he should understand that those little girls aren't really going to "buy" him something.
I stand by my previous suggestion.

And about paying attention to your dad, there's nothing wrong with that. You just lost your mother, and Dad probably doesn't know what to do without her. Like I said, your hubby seems to be a great guy, so he'll understand. Get the girls to do something nice for him, and you do something nice for your dad.

Only if you don't mind that on Mother's Day. Have the kids make him a card and get him something he is into like golf or fishing stuff. Cook him a meal. I don't think men care as much as we do.

Being 2 and 3 years old is no excuse for them to not have a job.

I think you should let him spend the day with the children. Of course your way sounds like it will get a point across.

I more than realize you have your hands full, my grandson's are 2 and 3 yrs old. Sometimes you can get much more with honey than you can with being nasty.
