Low range 2WD and low range 4WD.

I know of H2 and H4, High gear two wheel drive and High gear four wheel drive respectively.

But not L2 and L4. I suppose it's the same as above, but low gear in the transfer case..

LOW 4 wheel drive, LOW 2 wheel drive.

You have two speed output. High and low. High is for regular driving and highway (usually high 2 or H2). High 4 for inclemment weather (snowing or raining).

Low ratio is for off road or hill climbing or pulling a heavy load. This ratio uses more fuel! Basically it allows you to utilize more power from the motor but not go as fast as in high ratio. Meaning the buggy won't take off as fast making it safer for offroad, towing loads, etc.

I agree with greenie and nitebearer. L4 (4WD Low range) and L2 (2WD Low range).
