As you can see from some of the answers, it's used as a racist remark.

Hi Amber, I prefer the term "Atheists" because that way we are all sure I'm separated from the delusional world of religion. People of religious beliefs are to hypocritical, self serving and a whole bunch are totally delusional. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of good Christian people that do a lot of good for humanity. BUT there all many that are just plan nuts.

I know it is offensive...and I know where the term came from. People use that term all the time..im in the 7th grade going into the 8th grade, and many boys in my class...they use the term. i go to a private school...and very few black boys go there...and white boys call other white boys this. its sickening to hear...its like hearing the N word. its horrible.

this is where the term came from. when white people used to whip the slaves....it was called, 'cracking the whip' so therefore...the people who whipped the slaves...which were the white people...they were called 'crackers'

i hate saying it...its a bad word. people need to grow up on here....they have such a low vocabulary, that's all they can think of to say.

Yes I completely agree. It is racist and disrespectful. Just like some people should not call black people the "N" word ,people should not call white people crackers. Two wrongs don't make a right. People should not call people of any race derogatory words.

Yeah its very offensive. Black people are addressed as the N word and the Hispanics as beaners. Its very disrespectful to call other people derogatory names.

People really need to grow up. There is enough hatred in the world. Hatred only leads you to the pits of hell, and the bondage of being bitter.

I never heard of cracker before. I thought they were talking about what some people ate (seriously!).

I daresay I am naive.
