I understand the logic in your question but atom bombs can not cause hurricanes. Atomic bombs cause an explosion which means the force is transferred outward. Hurricanes form from the collection of forces/energy at sea.

Hurricanes work like this!
A small thunderstorm gets blown off the coast of Africa. As it travels along the equator it begins to gain power. Ocean on the equator acts like a gigantic solar collector. Each square meter of ocean receives about a kilowatts of energy from the sun and stores the energy in the form of heat. Warm moist air rises off the ocean and is absorbed by the thunderstorm. As warm moist air rises up the middle of the storm it cools off and dumps moisture and adds energy. The rising column of air gets stronger and stronger and that creates rotation. As the storm spins faster and faster the wind picks up. As soon as the wind reaches 75mph or more its an official hurricane.

No. A hurricane has many thousands of times more energy than a nuclear bomb. The reason the bomb is potentially more destructive than a hurricane is that the energy is released quickly, creating a shock wave and intense heat.

The energy in a hurricane is so much more (by a factor of 100) than an a-bomb that nothing would happen.

Probably not. The amount of energy involved in a hurricane is more on the order of a nuclear war, not a nuclear weapon. Even small thunderstorms are simply huge, far greater than anything man can generate.

I think the more logical explanation would be the a bomb would melt the ice and everyone would drown. Isn't that a lil more plausible?
