Wow! I have so many great memories attached to lightning bugs. They remind me of a much simpler time in my life. I'm hoping that my children can have some of the same memories.

Born and raised in Ohio so I did. The real name for them is "lightnin' bugs", people that call them by another name just aren't in the know. I use to go in the house and get a mirror, catch a jar of them, stick them in my mouth and watch my cheeks light up.
Ah, so easily amused.

I have used that term before, but generally, we call them fire flies. Have you ever caught one?! Those things are ugly if you are looking at them up close & in the light!

I did. There was an empty field by our house, and when we went there at night, it was lit up like diamonds from all of the lightening bus. It was like it was shimmering. Nice memory!
