Yes you are correct on that but much more. Bashing the military, supporting illegals evan if it was not them personally but their party, and the flip flop/ lies made at every speech they give.
The worst part is instead of excepting defeat it will be saying America is racist. That will be the anthem of the Dem's before elections. Vote for us or you are a racist

Bashing Bush strategy? It seems that any criticism of the President, deserved or not, gets labeled as bashing by the cons. I'm not sure lately whether the cons have convinced themselves that the Dems can't win in '08 out of desperation or just plain denial.
This country, mostly with the votes of moderates and Independents, elected a Democratic Congress in November largely because of the war. It hasn't gotten better, it's become much worse. The President has an embarrassingly low approval rating because of Iraq, and the scandals plaguing the White House have created a wholesale perception of corruption from the Bush Administration that just keeps growing. The truth is that the Republicans aren't going to win back those moderates and Independents continuing on their current path, and they unable and unwilling to change. In September, if the surge hasn't showed signs of success the bulk of Republicans will discontinue supporting Bush's actions in the war. They have already given him notice of this, telling him that the White House is no longer credible when it comes to Iraq.
Do you really think that the people of this country are going to be willing to put another Republican in the White House to clean up Dubya's mess? It's like handing the keys to the hen house to the next fox waiting in line. Believe what you wish, I realize for you cons, it's party before reality and party before truth. But if I were you, I'd buy the economy sized bottle of aspirin in November '08, you're going to need it.

I don't know, The Dems are kind of bashing Bush, but the Reps have got Bush which kind of hurts them. Also, neither side has any candidates which seem very promising to me. I think it'd be cool to have a third party President.

I think most people that say they are Republicans need to look and reflect. Being a republican started with very good intentions a few hundred years ago.. you know, being against owning other people against their will. But the tide has slowly changed and the Republicans today are willing to pass out amnesty to millions of immigrants which could just be the mechanism to more terrorism. Dems have actually tried to stop Bush from continuing, however, by them holding off on changing the bill, the troops were put at a high risk so they had to cave. I hope the Dems have a chance. They could bring integrity back to D.C. and the nation!

unless they pull some magical candidate out of their.... lets just say... the Hillary "fake over" is fooling no one... Obama has no experience and will not be able to carry momentum all the way until the primaries... and Al Gore is an easy target with all the garbage produced from his camp the last few years... what the dems don't realize is the conservatives gave them congress by sending a message to the republican party... just look at the recent debates... all the repubs are talking about is the border and illegals and the war on terror... the dems are.... promising to raise taxes.... hmmmm... They still the the John Kerry syndrome... "I have a plan..." I'm still not sure I ever heard what that plan was....

For the person who said that approval rating of congress is lower then the president's, approval ratings rarely mean much if anything, and Congress is made of both Republicans and Democrats, and most of that rating was generated by a Republican control congress from 2002 to 2006. Bush's refusal to work with Democrats, and their intention on challenging him hasn't helped.
To answer the main question, they do have a chance, and a good one. Unless we have dramatic turns for the better in both Iraq and Afghanistan, the Republican candates will HAVE to defend Bush's record, regardless of their specific positions. Bush was the previous president and most Republicans acted like a rubber stamp to his policies. And Bush's record is not clean, considering the questions of torture, starting a seemingly endless war in Iraq, etc, etc, etc, and the major Republican candidates have not voiced anything seriously critical of Bush's actions. Therefore, they will have to defend Bush, as there is no visible sign of change between Bush's policies and the ones proposed by the Republican front runners.
If no one believes me, study the first Nixon election after LBJ anounced that he wouldn't run for reelection. All the Democratic candidates had to defend Johnson's stance and actions in Vietnam, and that allowed Nixon to win.

I don't know how many, but I don't. I don't care either. Let the Democrats take themselves down, they don't need our help. But, it isn't the Bush bashing that has busted them, but the troops bashing. They say American soldiers are (I cant say the words they used) or I am definately reported. I consider the troops bashers unGodly, unloving, and hate-filled. Is that "nice" enough? F um!

It will be an interesting election I think.

The canidates they have are an absolute joke with little or no experience. Al Gore though is the sleeper to watch out for. Not that hes a great leader or anything, he just has charisma from his stupid movie.
The republicans on the other hand are disappointing yet a cut above anything the democrats are capable of.

What the **** are you smoking? They're not bashing Bush as much as that dumbass is bashing himself with the stupid decisions he keeps making. The Dems have retaken the Congress for the first time in twelve years because the nation is fed up with Bush, and in 2008 I have no doubt in my mind that the Democrats will run the entire federal government.
