When you joined band didn't you makw\e a commitment to the band to go to all band activities? What does your band director say about this? i believe you should ask if you may be excused from the band trip without any problems..if not, you need to go.

I personally would ask my friend if it would upset her if I would miss her birthday because of the band trip. She will always have another birthday, and you can celebrate it maybe before or after the trip this year. The band trip is a trip of a lifetime...I will never forget our band trips when I was in band, they were so much fun. I'm sure your friend would understand, I know I would. Good luck and if you go, have fun!!!

A friends birthday should be more important to you than a band trip. If you really can't decide, ask to go out with your friend the following day. Its up to you in the end.

Band trip. Buy your friend an early birthday present and take him or her out for some fun the evening before. Friend's birthdays come every year, but band trips end after high school.

Besides, if I was your friend, I would forgive you for taking your band trip, especially if you got me something really nice for my birthday.

I am almost 53 years old, and I STILL remember those band trips! I'm sure your friend will understand... plan something really special to do together when you return. Hope you have fun, whatever you decide!

If you have a responsibility to your band your friend should understand that. Do your duty as a band member then catch your friend late for their event.
