Do what till you find her? Search?
Now, this sort of connection or obsession wouldn't be so abnormal, unless you are a lonely guy who has never been on a date before. In extreme situations, "only the mind can grant you power." So, if loneliness is making you rely on a dream and an idea that is fun to live by and accommodate by your actions, then it is a bit abnormal.
If you are a normal guy that knows girls and has been on dates, but your dream keeps you dedicated to someone who, to this point is no more than fiction for the moment, then this is OK, not necessarily normal, but OK.
Ironically, if you are a guy who is pretty isolated and this "dream" is what keeps you sane, then this should be dealt with.
Don't think that I'm being harsh, because I'm 25 and have never been on a date. Loneliness is a vicious cycle, I know. We can't just make friends when and where we want, and it's very difficult to go to a club alone, but we must avoid indulging in fantasy.
Interestingly enough, I came up with a grand scheme in order to meet a celebrity! She is a Brazilian singer, but I figured that she might not be so famous in the US. I was going to draw a picture of her, in pencil, perfect down to every last detail, and tell everybody that I dreamt of this face, and I "have a feeling" that she may be real. Eventually I hoped to end up on a morning show, and feature this drawing and say that I dreamed about her. Obviously she would've seen it, if it really gained publicity. Then she would at least have revealed herself and let me meet her in person (I know she wouldn't like me). LOL I don't know if it would've worked.

One theory about dreams suggests that about every 90 minutes, the frequency in which REM sleep recurs, the brain goes through a period of consolidating,or going over, recent experiences with the information already stored there, like a computer inserting new data into the memory, however, dreams may be just a byproduct of this memory research, who knows?(well, nobody since it's a theory"P). Like everybody eles said, your situation depends on if you've ever gone on a date, if you have, then you should probably just regard it as a dream, if you haven't, you might want to see a psyhologist. Then again, maybe there is some girl out there that relates to the girl in your dream, you just haven't realized it yet. By the way, they're not going to throw you in a mental hospital.

You should definitely tell the psychiatrist all of this. There is such a thing as doctor/patient confidentiality and the doctor may not discuss anything about what you have talked about in private outside his office. If he does, he could lose his license. If everything you have said is true, you need to call child protective services immediately and get away from there. You are in a volatile and potentially dangerous situation both physically and mentally. No one deserves to be treated the way you have been and still are. If you are currently talking to a therapist, I am surprised they have not told you that you need to be away from this abuse. If you are not talking to one at present, seek professional therapy immediately or at the very least talk to a school counselor or someone you trust completely.

I am a woman; if one had a dream like that about a man, it would make me feel soooo good, one believes one would wake up in the morning feeling refreshed. What a pleasant dream, we should all have such wonderful dreams; think about it, your dream is better than a nightmare. One remembers songs sang by great men from the 60's 70's so forth and so on, if you lived those times you would know they were great times of change > too much weed and, sex > the songs really made one think, of course the weed helped > so Cat Stevens sang > You may be here tomorrow but your dreams may not. Yet, friend sometimes dreams do come true. Friend, no matter the dream one must continue and guess who holds the future, I am glad you asked ? > God does. Remember every gift from God is good. If one found a man one could do those things you mentioned with and more > ocean breeze, fireplace, one is able to go on and on > etc...etc...Would it not be awesome? 1+1+1=1. Love is of and from God; God Himself is. Love.

Ever thought that she could be someone from a past life? Or maybe she really is your soul mate, somewhere out there past the horizon? Of course she could all just be a psychological metaphor for something...but in my opinion all of these things are just as likely as the next.
It's fine to have expectations, to desire that special someone in your dreams. I'm personally a big believer in fate and the like, so it doesn't seem too out there for me to believe that you are seeing your soulmate under twilight's grace. Just make sure that you don't let it take over your life. Don't let her image prevent you from getting into relationships with real, presently here individuals. Don't hold out on life just waiting for her to come. If she really is your soulmate, she'll come no matter what you choose to do with your life in the meantime.
Good luck and take care. ^_^

Yeah, I agree with the answer below. I think this is a symbol of your need/want for a relationship. It's not crazy to have dreams about a girl you've never met, even detailed ones. I have to say it probably is really unlikely of this being a real thing, so I wouldn't go looking for her. But who knows, maybe you'll meet and date a girl someday who looks like her? Or maybe it was in a book you read or a movie you saw and forgot. It could mean anything, really.

I think your going to accidentally bump into her one day or you will meet her through traveling, in a new neighborhood or in your work place. It may not be for months or even years, but its possible it will happen when you least expect it or else your just dreaming about the perfect girl you wish you would meet some day. Hope you find her.

I treated someone with thoughts just like this. He is still looking for a nurse who will bear his child - fourty years after having thoughts like this. I say this for your mental health - I think you should see a psychiatrist and explain this to him/her. This is a relatively benign problem, but it could seriously disrupt your life unless you decide not to take the dream very seriously.

Woah, buddy. I've been in the mental hospital, when you're roommate goes crazy breaking the windows and mirrors at three o' clock in the morning you'll wish you'd calmed down. She's not real.
