I don't hate life because I am depressed, or suicidal. I hate life because of things that go on in todays world. I feel like I am living in a world that is doomed. Also, to think, there are such talks about nuclear wars and such that could whipe us out in a matter of minutes which freaks me out beyond belief. Sometimes I think it would have been better if I was never born in this millenium!

I want to add I don't hate "my" life, I just hate the life we all have to live by.

yes it's normal. everyone who has any semblance of being a moral human being would feel that way. but what can one person do? do your best to strike a balance, so you don't feel guilty that you are part of the problem. find things that you think will make a difference. BTW, you would probably have the same feelings no matter what millenium you are in, because life is hard and there are no easy answers at any stage of societal "progress." good luck!

Hello,
Actually, to contrary, we live in a much better age than any other generation. Would you rather be living 200 years ago with no electricity and little sanitation. Think about it.

As far as the whole nuclear war thing goes, you are just being paranoid.
Don't listen to the media, they only report the tragedies on mankind.

Hang on for a while. It seems bad now but when you have things to worry about that are closer to you like paying bills and keeping a roof over you families head (or crashing your bike) you will be a happier person. It seems backwards but challenges make us stronger and if you have time to worry about world issues you don't have enough work to do or real things to worry about. BTW. shut off the tv/(newspaper) for a month. You'll feel better just by doing that.

There are many terrible things happening in the world today. Unfortunately, I am little old me. What can I do. Well, I could try to make my little green acre a little more pleasant, or I could give in and let things get worse. We may not be able to perform great deed, but we can perform little deeds well, and with joy.

I grew up during the US/Russia cold war when nuclear disaster was a daily fear. I know very well what your thoughts, as I had the same. But I truly don't believe you will see a nuclear holocaust in this country in your lifetime, so you may as well find something uplifting to do and put the politics of fear behind you.

My short answer is yes, it's normal. My counter-question is: do you really hate it? You apparently value normality, and that implies that you value life. Maybe you're merely frustrated with things that happen in the course of life, which isn't the same thing at all.
