I've been homeschooled my entire life and I'm going to public school for my senior year. Any advice?

Get involved in a group that will support you. Make a couple of friends if you haven't already. Don't wear homeschooling on your sleeve, but don't be reticent to talk about it either if it comes up. I am not bashing homeschooling by any means, but I think you will enjoy the social possibilities in the public school system. Get involved in Fine Arts if possible. It wouldn't hurt to ask the school counselor for a peer mentor for the first few weeks. Get into the mindset that you will enjoy the opportunity rather than fearing the implications. The only thing you can affect at this point, if your attitude toward this. Good luck and I wish you all the best. As a public school teacher, thank you for giving us a chance.

Be cordial to everyone and be observant. I don't know how big your public school is, but it can be overwhelming. People often carry alliances with them from other places. Maybe join a club or two in an interest that you have. If you have athletic ability that can help you make friends, but try not to step on toes. You may be an unknown entity that could interfere with people's expectations.
