well i dont think africans would think of black people from america the same way as an african...the same way as you could be originally irish but born in america, and irish people would see that as different to being raised in an irish village.

Well in my association with Africans directly from Africa, they refer to African Americans as Americans. They typically do not identify with African-Americans since they have their own language and culture that is common in Africa.

If you have a child, it would not be "mixed-race" because you and your boyfriend are both of the black race. The only thing that would be different is that you are from different cultures respectively.

they will considered you "colored"

African=black
African with some European ancestry= colored
European=white

black people only call themselves black after the civil rights movement and they were proud of their African heritage and excluded the European ancestry.

black people used to be offended when called "black" because they were ashamed.

People in Africa see african-american as separate people but are still apart of them. Therefore to Africans you are colored.

You are not African, You are an American of African decent.If your family came from Africa and not the Caribbean. My daughters grandparents are from Cape Verde and they consider her an American of African ancestry. If you go to Africa they will consider you a black American.
