They do grow like a carrot but they take about 30 days shorter than carrots to be ripe. Usually once the stems are about 6 inches or higher the radishes are ready for picking.

Radishes are root vegetables; they grow underground like a carrot. They're VERY easy to grow - in fact, they were the first vegetables I ever grew from seed, back with I was about 8 years old :-)
