i am thinking about getting a tortiose in the near future, I have been reading up on it like monitering the mass of the tortiose and such, slow grow loads of stuff by tortiose trust etc, but is there any general tips you can give me, about caring for them things you have found as you go along, plus they freak my dad out which is cool!

Tortoises are a real investment of time, money, and effort. You need to think through each phase of growth- housing for the small tortoise, bigger tortoise, and adult. Ideally, it will spend as much time as possible outside- plan for that as well.
