Oh, sweetie, if only that were true! Actually, rude works very well! Too many people read "nice" as "weak". Those of us who value good manners, self control and general politeness need to find a way to fight back. Suggestions? (A friend gave me a 'fridge magnet about 100 years ago when I became a trouble-shooter for the company I was employed by.It says "Friendliness is okay, but nastiness gets better results! " So, I'm guessing I'm not the only one who's noticed "rude" working just fine for some.

Never for one of two main reasons. Rude people learned the behavior from parent(s) or they are lonely, angry and/or just bitter people. That have a strong need to bring everyone around them to their own level of unhappiness. Makes them feel less alone and that they have some control of their surroundings.

when polite people stop being polite to them. it's an empty circle. rude people take advantage of polite people and polite people (being polite) never return the insult. rude people are usually like that because they have issues in their psyche that make them careless about other people's feelings or too angry or too spiteful or whatever it is the type of rudeness they adopt. they'll probably stop being rude if they saw a therapist.

Sometimes it's necessary to be rude. If someone is rude to me, I find a way to become strong from it. If I complain and allow my feelings to get hurt, it'll just make me weak.

Never, because you actually *can* get somewhere by being rude. A lot of places, actually, some of them very high up. Look at Howard Stern.

well as sad as it may seem there are a lot of people that are successful because of their rudeness, not to say that they will have continued success but yes i have seen it. usually it ends with a person just as rude as themselves to take it away from them to take them to realize that a lil karma goes a long ways
