my moms cat scratched the top of my car and was wondering how i could go about fixing it without using my insurance company which might make my insurance go up and don't want to pay expensive price on getting a professional to do it when it isn't but about 3 scratches. it is only through the top coat.

You should stop by your local auto parts store and get a bottle of hand glaze. The hand glaze is a cleaner that will remove scratches from the car finish. When you use rubbing compound you do more harm than good. When done put a good coat on wax on to seal the finish.

Cat claws cannot actually scratch the finish of your car. It is hardness thing. You can use rubbing coumpound white for small scratches and orange for deeper scratches. Cat claws just make marks that a good cleaner wax will take off. Wash with hot soapy water and dry then see what marks might need attention. Use cucular motion with cleaner wax let dry wipe clean then see if you need white rubbing compound. Then feed the cats when you get there next time at the neighbors yard.

if it is only through the top coat i would recommend going to any wal-,art or parts store and buy a rubbing compound or scratch remover, either will work great for what u need to do and doesn't cost much, and really easy to do, all u have to do is apply to scratch and wax on and wax off, its that easy and if that doesn't work i would use touch up paint that is sold at wal-mart and any part store, u can buy it to match ur car paint and all u have to do there is apply over scratch, that is about 5 bucks as well and just as easy
