Car rental contracts can have different terms and conditions. For example, a rental contract may restrict the areas in which a vehicle may be driven, limiting it to an area a certain radius from the rental location. It may say that a car may not be taken out of the state, or is only allowed to be taken to certain other states.

Some rental contracts have time and mileage charges, where you pay a certain amount per day or week, and a fee for each mile driven. Some allow you a limited amount of miles included in the rate. Some do not charge for mileage.

For example, you may have a $19.95 daily rate, and also pay 15 cents for each mile. They may include100 miles per day. You may also find a rate for the same type car that is $49.95 per day, with no additional mileage fees.

If you are renting a car to get to work while your car is in the shop, you may be better off with the $19.95 rate. This assumes that you do not drive 100 miles a day in your commute. You will not co over the mileage limit, ot if you do it will only be by a few miles.

If you are renting a car for a long road trip, the unlimited mileage is a better buy. Shop around and compare rates and restrictions. With a little work, you can find a rate that will fit your needs!
