Dyson is the best and they even have one for pets. Dyson's don't have bags and you will never have to buy a belt or filter. The have a 5 year warranty with them. The Dyson doesn't use a filter to trap dirt. That's how other get clogged.

I have an Oreck and it is good on dog hair, however my dog's longer hair really messes up the brushes, causing them to bind with immediately burns thru the belt. You smell the belt immediately. EL STINKO!! On the good side, Oreck's access to the belt is easy and after several dozen, I've gotten real fast as changing them, (sigh)

One big plus is with the Oreck and removing dog hair from the roller bar and brushes, it is light weight and easily flipped over. I bought a beltless Hoover because of the Oreck's belt tearing, but quickly realized the Hoover was way too heavy to flip over to clean out the hair.

It is this weight issue that keeps me from trying the Dyson.

We have a Dyson and it ????? I would rather have a oreck. check consumer reports, sears Kenmore at top of the list for vacuums. Try a pet roller works ideal for picking up dog hair.

I JUST BOUGHT A DYSON VACUMN CLEANER AND IT WORKS WONDERS,I HAVE A VERY LONG HAIRED CAT AND HE WAS SHEDDING SO MUCH AND I HAD AN ORECK WELL IT BURNT OUT BECAUSE OF ALL HIS HAIR..NOW MY DAUGHTER SEES HOW GOOD THE DYSON IS AND SHE HAS TRIED TO STEAL IT FROM ME ! BUT IF YOU CHANGE THE BAG AREA RIGHT AFTER EACH CLEANING IT DOES GOOD..THE MONEY I SPENT FOR IT HAS BEEN WELL WORTH IT..

My dog is a Newf/rott and sheds like crazy. I also have two cats. The only vacumn for me is the Dyson. It will not smell as long as you change the filter(it does have one on the side) regularly and wipe out the tube with a damp cloth once a month.
It has saved my carpet and my furniture.

I have used both. They are both good vacuums, but I prefer the Oreck for the price.
