When I am working on the computer, everything will stop and flash a few times. Does this mean my hard drive is going bad?

It could be anything. I'm not sure what exactly "stop and flash" means, but that could be hardware or software. Your computer could be overheating, a short, bad power supply, spyware/virus/trojan, etc... It's too vague of a question to know exactly.

Backup immediately and take it to a service center nearby.

Well, it could also be your monitor. When my monitor was going bad, the screen would flash and flutter and the picture would disappear. Try running a virus scan. You might also be running too many programs at once and you could be overloading your computer's capacity to run all those programs at the same time. Try closing out a few windows.

Most likely not your hard drive. Your situation also happens to computers w/ integrated graphics and small system memory RAM). If you have this kind of set up, increase RAM or add a graphics card. Best would be to do both.
