Depends on how well it's taken care of.

My HP Deskjet 500C which was introduced in 1991, still works and is on top of my desk right now. Needs a new cartridge and a new set of rollers to help it pick up paper better, but it still prints fine.

It depend on usage. A printer has rated maximum print volume per month. A normal Inkjet printer is rated for 250 pages per month (most probably).

Design life of the printer is 5 years X print volume
So for Normal Inkjet printers it would be 250 X 60 i.e. 15000 pages. Now calculate the time depending your usage.

However with very less use also it man not work well after 10tears due to mechanical wear and tear and aging down of plastic parts.

depends.

how much you paid, what type, how much usage, how many times you try to burn it, power, etcc. Mine, a regular HP pro K550 lasted about 6 years with medium usage (about 20 pages per month)
